Reclamation
Have you ever wondered what is buried in our nation's landfills? I have. I'm pretty sure there is a treasure trove of recycleable material sitting in a soup of toxic waste. I see a day in the not too distant future when we will exhume these places and recycle what we can and clean up what we must. Raw materials will become too expensive and, the poisons being leached into the earth will become too dangerous to ignore. Recycling is always less expensive than starting from scratch. We can create a new industry, save valuable, arable, land from from being destroyed, and ease the burden on our environment. We can do this at the same time that we will enforce new and strict recycling laws. These laws will effect everyone in America. For the better. A clean environment to live in is a fundamental human right. No industry will be exempt from these new laws and regulations. The foremost mission of the EPA will be to clean our land. A clean America will be an example to the world. We will regain the moral high ground that has been abandoned by the current administration. A clean America is a healthy America. Let's get started. Vote for me in 2008!

I was checking the settings for this page yesterday. I noticed I wasn't getting comments that I knew were being sent. Well, it was set to "members only". Which would explain the fact that I was getting plenty of page viewings but not too many comments.
It's now reset to accept comments from whomever would like to do so. I welcome your comments and don't care if they're complimentary or critical.
Happy Tax Day
April 15th, Tax Day. A day faced with dread by many. Fatalist resignation by others. I propose this day be made a national holiday. For everyone except tax preparers and the Post Office. I feel this is a holiday everyone can get behind. Everyone pays taxes, regardless of race, religion, color or creed. No baggage attached to it. Here are some examples of baggage:Christmas - Not everyone is a Christian.Thanksgiving - American Indians aren't particularly fond of this oneHalloween - Humorless Christians don't like itNew Years Day - Lots of different calendars out there. Jewish and Chinese, for instanceJuly 4th - Black Americans didn't exactly get their freedom that day, did they?Columbus Day - See ThanksgivingApril 15th as a national holiday is an idea long overdue. A vote for me is a vote for a new holiday all taxpayers can agree on.Another idea regarding income tax: A check box on the 1040 form allowing the taxpayer to direct where their taxes will be spent. I would pick the National Parks. It would be interesting to see how much the Pentagon would get. Far less than they want, I'm sure.
A Republishing of my original Presidential Announcement
Originally posted on April 4th 2006Me for President So, I've decided to run for President of the United States in 2008."Why would you do that, you crazy bastard?", some may ask. Well, I'm just about fed up with the way things are going. Here is my platform (early stage):1. Re-instate the draft. No exceptions. Age 18. Men and women. After high school, before college. 2 years active, 3 inactive. Include the Peace Corps and Earth Corps as an alternative for pacifists. Young people today need to know what it means to serve. This will keep the Congressional chickenhawks in line. And keep our military strong and representative of our population.2. No more gasoline powered engines. I can't think of a quicker way to halt global warming. And stop the destruction of the increasingly fragile environment. And stop imperialist aggression against the oil producing countries. Let's get bio-diesel up and running. Grow our own. American grown, American made, fuel for America!3. A bottle and can deposit nationwide. I'm really tired of seeing cans and bottles littering our great nation. Aluminum, glass, and plastic. In addition to the beautifiying aspect of this plan, it will put money into the pockets of the people that will redeem discarded containers, cut production costs of the containers, reduce the demand for raw material, and eliminate the need for new landfills.Let's keep America beautiful!4. Legalize marijuana now! The continuing, futile persecution of marijuana users has got to end. I'm talking medical and recreational. The potential tax revenue stream and savings from not not clogging up the courts and penal system is mind boggling. The tax income and enforcement savings can be used to fund our law enforcement agencies to fight the far greater threat of methamphetamine use and manufacture. And for treatment centers for those who need the help. It would also allow American farmers to grow a valuable cash crop. Industrial hemp is far too rich a resource to waste like we are now doing. I know I'm not the only person or even candidate that sees this. This is only what I've come up with in the last hour or two. More will follow as I confer with my constituents, staff, and advisors. Please donate what you can to my campaign. Use the Amazon link on this page to do so. You might ask "What is your party affiliation, Brian?" Well, as near as I can tell, I'm A Green Socialist Libertarian. Earth first, public good second, then you can look after yourself.Let's get America back where it belongs!Thank you for your support,Brian K. Parker
Roe v. Wade and Population Growth
Leave it alone! It's already a hard enough decision to make. If you don't like abortion, don't have one!
Why don't we spend the time and money on sex education in our schools instead? People are not going to stop having sex. Offer counseling where and when it is appropriate. Head off unwanted pregnancies before they happen. And here is a further inflammatory thought: Pay people to be irreversibly sterilized. This isn't aimed at any specific part of the social strata. This is in response to population growth and the further strain that growth will put on our rapidly dwindling resources. Natural and financial. When we talk about the countries that are in competition with the United States for oil, the same two keep coming up: China and India. With their billions of citizens, they represent the greatest challenge to the remaining resources available. The wars over oil have already begun, the wars over water and arable land are coming soon. The best way to slow down the total destruction of the earth is by reducing the need for the raw materiels called for by growing populations. Some of you might say this is facist. I suppose it sounds that way. But, the time is rapidly approaching when we will have to do something even more drastic than this. Why not get in front of the problem before we are forced into a really bad situation? Soylent Green is People!
Our New Home
Welcome to the new home of the Green Socialist Libertarian Party or GSLP. Over the course of the next 28 months we will try to right our unsteady ship of state with fresh ideas and energy. It won't always be a joke but, it'll always mean something.I am Brian Parker, the party's only candidate for office. And that office is of the President of the United States of America! No joke. Well maybe a little. But, I'm in!Soon we will have a complete platform. We will take on the issues that seem to be tearing America apart. We will take on these issues with humor and absurdity. Not sneering disregard for our fellow Americans. Like the current administration. The name of our party is important. Confusing but important. Here is the explaination:Green: We must, must, must take care of the Earth! There is NO other choice. If you can find a better world to live on, go there!Socialist: Yes, Socialist! We simply must stregthen our government safety net. Too many Americans fall through. Every American should have access to health care and an excellent education. Our taxes are already a form of socialism, let's take the next step!Libertarian: You have to be responsible for your own behavior. So many problems in America today can be solved or even avoided by using common sense, good manners and, self control. Pre-emptive laws and laws regarding victimless crimes should be reviewed and discarded wherever possible. You determine your own fate.
